About This Office

This Looks Official is a records and containment office. It maintains files on objects that do not behave as expected.

Building 4

The office operates out of Building 4, a former regional claims-processing center. Visitors should use the main entrance, beside the small metal sign reading “BUILDING 4.” Parking is available.

Sub-Level B was formerly microfiche storage. It is not open to visitors. Items relocated to Sub-Level B may not remain there.

All files are maintained by Records. Records opens, files, and locates material on behalf of the office. At the time of this notice, Records has not located:

The Director

The Director is heard only by intercom and seen only by memo. This is for security. Approvals from the Office of the Director are made in writing, in the approval field.

Procedure

All containment attempts follow standard procedure. Results are logged in full.

Items are assigned one of four hazard tiers: Routine, Irregular, Concerning, and Please Leave the Building. Tier changes are recorded by stamp. See the Records Search for tier definitions.

The seal

The seal of the office is a plain embossed circle reading “This Looks Official · Records and Containment · Est. ████.” The founding year is redacted, including on the seal. Requests to unredact the founding year may be filed on Form 4-C. They will be filed.

Contacting the office

The office does not accept correspondence by telephone, post, or electronic mail. Reports and requests are accepted only on Form 4-C (Electronic).
